Friday February 28th is my 38th birthday. There will be tacos, a Tacocat Piñata, and the hundreds of smiles and munchkin hugs will make my day.
Make Our Day started with playdates in 2014. Birthday lunches were a big part of that. Make Our Day students got to choose their favorite food and share it with their friends.
The goal of Make Our Day has never been to “give a man a fish” but to teach them how.
This year, when I went to ask our oldest girl what she wanted for her birthday lunch, she smiled, giggled, and snuggled into my side just like when they were little.
“Teacha, I have surprise for you. I and my family donate lunch for whole school today.” 💕
Our Youth Group alumni are paying rent for their families, putting younger siblings through school, and even saving for passports, hoping to return to Myanmar one day.
Because of direct financial aid and in-person training from Make Our Day & Good Shepherd, we have a generation of sponsored students who are succeeding and leading the way for others.
For the 2025 / 2026 school year, we have 10 students who are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the 3 sponsored classes before them.
If we do our job right, these 10 students won’t need help forever, but they do need help now.
So far, we’ve raised enough to sponsor 4 of the 10 students. Direct student sponsorship is $30 a month or $360 for the year.
All money raised during my birthday will be offered as scholarship money to families who desperately need it to put their children through the 2025 / 2026 school year(May 2025 to April 2026).
Money can’t fix everything, but it can fix this.
If you can sponsor a student for one month to one year, it would make my birthday.
Ask your HR department. Normally all they need to set up a matching gift is proof of your personal donation and Make Our Day's EIN number. This is a GREAT way to double your donation and get more direct financial support out to our students.
